Heidelberg Engineering has announced that it has acquired 100 percent of Medisoft, a U.K.-based provider of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software solutions for the ophthalmology market. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Based in the German city of Heidelberg, Heidelberg Engineering is a high-tech imagining solutions provider which designs, produces and distributes diagnostic instruments for eyecare professionals.
The acquisition of Medisoft is supposed to allow Heidelberg Engineering to offer a wider range of ophthalmic healthcare IT solutions to its customers. However, even though ophthalmic IT solutions will play a growing role in its portfolio, Heidelberg Engineering said it intends to continue focusing on its core business of diagnostic imaging platforms for eyecare professionals.
Medisoft will continue operations out of its headquarters in Leeds, U.K. Following the acquisition, Heidelberg Engineering has appointed Arianna Schoess and Kfir Azoulay to Medisoft's board of directors. They join David Johnston, Christian Martin, and Alice Braga Johnston, the current members of the board.
