Henri Venet, 47, takes the place of 85-year-old Guy Charlot as executive director of Silmo. Venet has been general manager of GIFO, the French optical industry association, since 2005. Charlot remains chairman of the Silmo Association of three French eyewear guilds, which owns the French trade fair and organizes other events. One year ago, Charlot delegated the chairmanship of Silmo to Philippe Lafont of the eponymous company. Eric Lenoir will continue as project manager of Silmo, and Isabel Beuzen will still be in charge of communication. The new shift in responsibilities is facilitated by the fact that the offices of GIFO and Silmo are in the same building in Paris, which is owned by the Silmo Association. A simplification in GIFO's structure is in the works.
