Hoya Lens is shutting down completely its German factory in Müllheim, which has been mainly producing free-form lenses for customers all over Europe. The company is negotiating with the unions over the dismissal of its 100-odd workers, impacting the time of the shutdown. The production will be shifted to Hoya's other German factory in Mönchengladbach. Hoya had warned earlier this year that it may have to place its 100 workers in Mönchengladbach on a shorter weekly scheduled because of the poor market situation, but that never happened because of higher sales in the last five months or so.
