Hubert Sagnières, chief executive of Essilor International, has appointed two chief operating officers from within the executive committee to support the deployment of the group's strategy. Paul du Saillant is going to supervise research & development, quality control, the Europe region and, starting in the first half of 2011, global operations as well. Laurent Vacherot will oversee corporate finance, information systems, investor relations and the Latin America region and, from the first half of 2011, the equipment and instruments division. De Saillant, 51, joined Essilor two years ago after working for L'Air Liquide and Lhoist. Vacherot, 54, joined Essilor as corporate senior vice president of management accounting in 1991. He became chief financial officer in 2007 after heading up operations in Canada and the U.S.
