Independent opticians in the U.S. are enjoying an upward positive moment according to the monthly Optical Business Barometer of Jobson Optical Research. Based on a scale of 1 for very negative to 5 for very positive, the mood in November was better than neutral. The index rose to 3.5 during the month of November, up from 3.4 in October and from 3.3 in November 2010. American opticians anticipate increased revenues in all the product categories over the next six months. The findings coincide with the official Consumer Confidence Index measured by the U.S. government, which enjoyed last month the largest single month-to-month increase since April 2003. It stood at 56.0, up from a revised level of 40.5 in October.
