International Vision Expo will hold an Optical Boot Camp on Sept. 13 in Dallas. Sponsored by Essilor of America, the event is designed to help those who are new to the optical field to get the information necessary for quality patient care and assistance. The International Vision Expo East fair held in New York has been heralded as a success. Attendance increased by 3 percent from the previous year, according to Exhibit Surveys, an independent audit firm, reaching 15,791 visitors. Participation by people in the Americas was on the rise, particularly from Canada, Mexico, Colombia and Brazil. Much of the marketing for the event was inspired by the artwork of Marcelo Cipis. As part of the conference, the Brazilian artist signed special-edition prints of his work that were sold the public. Out of the proceeds, $6,000 went to three eye-related charities: Optometry Giving Sight, Special Olympics-Lions Club International Opening Eyes Program and Unite for Sight.
