Italia Independent continues with its policy of developing and offering limited series of prescription frames and sunglasses in collaboration with well-known designers. This time, at the Opti fair in Munich, the Italian company presented two styles co-branded with Jean-François Rey, the French eyewear designer. One of the models combined Italian Independent's I-Thermic surface treatment, which reacts to heat, with J.F. Rey's silk-effect engravings. Italia Independent has also developed a dedicated capsule collection for another big French optical retail chain, GrandOptical, which is being sold only in 40 selected stores in France including the flagship on Paris's Champs-Elysées. The launch was supported by a major event at the store last Dec. 12. Meanwhile, Alain Afflelou, the French optical retail chain, has announced a line of children's frames designed by J.F. Rey and called “Little Artist,” comprising 28 colorful prescription models in stainless steel and acetate.
