Italy's Gruppo Randazzo reports a special agreement with the Lions Club for the collection of used eyeglasses at its 101 Optimssimo stores during the months of November and December. In exchange for them, customers will get a voucher entitling them to a discount of €100 on a new pair of prescription glasses or €50 on a pair of sunglasses. In another charitable initiative, Optissimo is again offering the possibility to buy a pair of glasses for only €9 to customers, and their dependants, who present a “social card” showing that they are poor. Most of the 425,000 holders of the social card are new parents or people who are more than 65 years old. This year, the Italian government is extending the privileges of this social card also to foreigners who have declared their residence in Italy.
