Jacky Fremont, a 49-year-old former Essilor executive who had been running BBGR since the beginning of last year, is reported missing since Nov. 12. He is believed to have drowned in the course of a deep-sea diving expedition. Fremont joined Essilor's marketing services team in France as a research executive in 1974. In 1982, he was named head of export services for Europe. He ran Essilor's Swiss operations between 1984 and 1986. He then spent 4 years in the USA running Logo Paris, and 7 others in the UK running Essilor's British subsidiary. Didier Marc-André, export sales manager of BBRG, has taken on the management of the company on an interim basis. BBRG is the second-largest French manufacturer of lenses and one of the 5 largest ones in Europe. Since 1993, its sales increased by 30 percent to 755 million French francs (e115m-$116m) in 1998, of which 26 percent are generated outside France.
