Jayanth Bhuvaraghan, president of Essilor International's business unit for Southeast Asia and India, has been named chief corporate mission officer within Essilor's executive committee, a newly created position. Bhuvaraghan, who will report to Essilor's chairman and chief executive, Hubert Sagnières, will be in charge of encouraging all initiatives designed to support the company's mission of improving vision for people worldwide. Estimating that 4.2 billion people in the world require vision correction, and that the number may grow to 6 billion by 2030, the company has launched many initiatives to raise awareness of the issue. In his new role, Bhuvaraghan will coordinate and accelerate such initiatives, working closely with partner organizations on the different projects. As a seasoned executive at Essilor, with experience in markets such as India, Asean, Middle East and Africa, Bhuvarghan has already developed innovative social business models and helped provide access to vision correction for remote populations.
