Jobson Optical Research has launched its new Optical Business Barometer, where it checks in online once a month with independent optical locations to see how their business is faring and to provide a comparative benchmark for the industry. Jobson has just released the results from its May survey. On a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 is ?very negative,? 3 is ?neutral? and 5 is ?very positive,? May overall was given a rating of 3.4, down from the 3.6 reported in April. March was the peak for 2010 so far, with a 3.7 rating. Respondents said their outlook for the next six months was 3.7, the same as in April. For the industry overall, though, they rated it a 3.4 for the next six months, down from 3.5 in April.
