Kentral, the Italian company set up in November 2006 to coordinate purchases in behalf of the Salmoiraghi & Vigano eyewear retail chain and the Vision Service buying group, is now well established as the privileged intermediary for some 1,245 sales outlets, representing 13.5 percent of Italy’s optical retail sales. Of this total, 426 outlets trade under the Salmoiraghi & Vigano, VistaSi, Distribuzione Moderna or Spacci Occhiali banners. The remaining 819 are affiliated to the buying group, either directly or through Vision Service Group. Since Kentral began working with them, suppliers have increased their sales to the stores by 12 percent, topping the €100 million mark. Kentral’s joint managers, Riccardo Perdomi and Marco Procacciante, have announced that Kentral will be offering a new monitoring service for the eyewear market and will also publish data reflecting the evolution of the market. The sell-out figures for the Kentral network will be included in the published data as from 2009.
