Luxottica has appointed Stefano Volpetti as chief marketing officer, replacing Fabio D'Angelantonio. Volpetti was previously vice president and general manager of Procter & Gamble's beauty care division. Luxottica's new joint chief executive in charge of markets, Adil Mehboob-Khan, was also a senior executive at Procter & Gamble, in charge of the Wella unit, before starting his current job in January 2015.
According to insiders, D'Angelantonio was at risk since the departure of Luxottica's former chief executive, Andrea Guerra, in September 2014. D'Angelantonio was also president of Sunglass Hut International, but no announcement has been made regarding his replacement for that position.
Mehboob-Khan said no other management changes are planned in the next months. Luxottica has been through a turbulent period after Guerra's departure and several other changes at its helm. The group also made significant changes at lower levels, including the wiping out of a large part of Oakley's management in the framework of its integration into the parent company's operations (see the following article).
