Luxottica seems to be determined to make a stronger statement in the sports eyewear sector. It has reportedly acquired the 40 percent stake it didn't own in Briko, the Italian sports eyewear brand, from its founder, Alberto Brignone, for about e11 million. Luxottica plans to further develop the Arnette brand, which had sales of about e40 million last year, and is going to show some novelities at MIDO. Also the Ray-Ban brand of sunglasses, which was acquired along with Arnette from Bausch & Lomb last year, may play an important role in this program, which is led by Paola Del Vecchio, daughter of Luxottica's chairman and CEO.
