Luxottica's retail arm, Luxottica Retail, has topped Vision Monday's ?50 Top U.S. Optical Retailers? list for an eighth year in a row. With its LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Sears Optical, Target Optical and BJ's Optical retail chains, as well as Pearle franchises, the Italian company easily took the top spot with retail turnover of $2,570 million. A distant second on the list was Wal-Mart, the massive U.S. retail chain of nondescript low-priced hypermarkets, with retail sales of $1,262 million through its Wal-Mart Vision Centers and its Sam's Club outlets, which sell low-priced goods in bulk. A newcomer to the list was Highmark Vision Holding's retail operation, including the Empire Vision Centers and Eye Care Centers of America (ECCA), which Highmark bought last August. Highmark's retail chains finished third, with sales of $551.9 million.
