Luxotttica has announced that it has signed an agreement with the trade unions representing its Italian workers for the company's welfare system, which will apply to the 8,000-odd employees at its seven Italian manufacturing plants and at its Milan office. The Luxottica Welfare System was first established in 2009 with a protocol of understanding of which the agreement is a natural development. It follows a long process of negotiations between the company and the different trade union organizations. The 2013 version of the agreement provides employees with extended assistance in the areas of health care, support for young people, listening and counseling, and a solidarity fund for start-ups in case of dismissal.
