Luxottica is considering a simplification of its corporate structure in regional markets as well as an evolution in marketing to put more emphasis on digital communication. Meawnhile, Luxottica has reorganized its retail division by appointing Nicola Brandolese sole manager for both the sunglass and optical retail businesses. Previously, he was in charge of optical retail, supervising more than 3,500 stores in 10 countries operating under the banners LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Target Optical, OPSM, Sears Optical and GMO.
With his new assignment, Brandolese takes over supervision of Sunglass Hut and practically doubles the number of stores he oversees. The chain has about 3,300 stores in 22 countries. The company also made changes to Sunglass Hut's management team, especially in North America. The group expects the new organizational structure to create smoother coordination globally and to facilitate implementation of plans to open more than 1,000 stores in 24 months.
As expected, Luxottica's board has appointed Francesco Milleri as deputy chairman (see Eyewear Intelligence Vol. 17 N° 3 and 4+5) with the task to assist the chairman, Leonardo Del Vecchio, “in carrying out the various functions associated with his current role.” Milleri will cooperate with the group's other deputy chairman Luigi Francavilla.
