Marchon has appointed an Austrian sporting goods industry executive, Thomas Zettler, to the new position of senior vice president and managing director of Marchon Europe, which is developing more specific products and price points for the region. Based at the subsidiary's office in Amsterdam, he will run all administrative, operational, sales and marketing activities of the US company in Europe and the Middle East. Zettler spent the last 11 years with Atomic, the Austrian ski firm, where he served lately as vice president of global sales and marketing. Eric Lefort remains as regional manager of sales and marketing of Marchon, responsible for key accounts and distributors.

Marchon has also promoted as managing director for the Asian region an executive recently recruited from Seiko to run its own Japanese operation. These new executive appointments go with Marchon's increasing focus on systems to help improve the whole supply chain.

The group, which is still for the moment the world's largest private eyewear company, is now involved in the implementation of sophisticated SAP software to help fine-tune production forecasting, logistics and customer service. This should place it in a better position to take on new brands and to return to growth rates of about 20 percent a year in the near future.
