Marchon Eyewear has taken over Lantis Eyewear's Donna Karan and DKNY licenses, effective on Jan. 1. It also has agreed to develop Nike Sport Eyewear for distribution mainly in optical stores and in selected sunglass and sporting goods stores in certain countries, starting this coming spring. Some of the new Nike models by Marchon will use the latter's patented Flexon shape retention technology. Nike introduced its first line of internally developed sports sunglasses in 1996. Safilo had previously tried to persuade Nike to sign a licensing deal. Last year, Nike signed a contract with Bollé for ski and snowboard goggles.
