Meade Instruments Corp., the American maker of optical products such as telescopes, microscopes, binoculars and riflescopes, has sold its Weaver and Redfield sports optics brands. It will keep its Simmons sports optics brand. Steve Muellner, the company's president and chief executive, noted that the two brands being sold accounted for only 5 percent of Meade's top-line revenues. The sale brought in $8 million in cash for the company.
