Mike Daley, the chief executive officer of The Vision Council, has announced that he will retire from this role in late 2016, after leading the organization for two years. Prior to serving as chief executive, his tenure with The Vision Council had included the roles of chairman of the board of directors and liaison with the Lab Division. Daley spent 34 years with Essilor. He retired from the French group in 2008 as the president and chief operating officer of its lens division. He has served the optical community as a board member or in leadership positions for a number of optical organizations including Optometry Cares - the American Optometric Association Foundation, Prevent Blindness America, and The Illinois College of Optometry board of trustees. He has also served as a director for the Foundation for Eye Health Awareness. Most recently, he was honored with the 2016 Asco Ophthalmic Industry Leadership Award. The Vision Council is currently conducting a search for a new chief executive officer.
