Mister Spex saw sales jump to €65 million in 2014, as compared to €47 million in 2013. The online glasses and contact lens retailer, which has a strong presence in Germany and Austria, with 500 partners, said it aims to achieve an average double-digit growth for 2015.
The company secured €32 million of investment to grow its domestic and international business in January this year, through funding largely led by Goldman Sachs, together with existing investors. A portion of these funds have now been used for further expansion in Scandinavia with the acquisition of Lensit.no, a Norwegian contact lens online shop, which now belongs to the Mister Spex group. Expansion in Scandinavia had started earlier on. By mid-2013, Mister Spex had already acquired the Swedish online eyewear stores Lensstore and Loveyewear. With the recent purchase of Lensit, Mister Spex becomes the second largest online optician in Scandinavia.
