Modo Eyewear announced that Rebecca Giefer, chief operating officer, has been made a financial partner in the company, based in New York. Giefer joined Modo 14 years ago as a temporary customer service employee, shortly after her university graduation. She then held various positions in customer service, sales and operations. In 2011, she was promoted to vice president of operations, and in 2014 she was promoted to chief operating officer. The new financial structure replicates in a way that of Modo's Italian-based company. Alessandro Lanaro, who founded the company in 1990 and is its chief executive, remains in control of the U.S. company, which takes care of the Americas. He also controls Modo's Milan-based operation, which handles the rest of the world, where Giovanni Lo Faro, international sales director of the brand, is also a minority shareholder.
