Netoptic, the Belgian eyewear manufacturer that markets the Kinto brand of optical frames and sunglasses, set up a German subsidiary in September with two regional sales managers and 5-6 sales representatives, who will be engaged shortly. The comlpany is also planning to open subsidiaries in Italy and the U.K. in the course of the next year in order to handle all distribution directly. Netoptic also appointed Nikolas Musty, founder and chief executive of the Belgian Bidules brand of sunglasses, to the newly created position of marketing manager in July. He will be responsible for repositioning the Kinto brand and developing its brand image. Kinto represented 80 percent of Netoptic's sales of €6 million in 2013. The company, which is now selling about 200,000 frames per year, moved its production from Belgium to Vietnam five and a half years ago.
