Bernard Désir has been elected as the new chairman of La Guilde des Lunetiers, the French cooperative that controls Guildinvest, a buying and franchising group to which more than 3,700 stores are affiliated in France, Spain Belgium, Poland and Morocco. They reached combined sales of €924 million in 2007, up 7.6 percent in the previous year, trading under such banners as Krys, Vision Plus, Vision Originale, Lynx Optique, Lun's Eyewear and Entendre.
Désir has listed international development, market leadership for Krys and operational efficiency as the future priorities under his mandate. He succeeds Olivier Pouliquen, chairman of La Guilde since 2005, who asked not to renew his own mandate because of his personal occupations. Antoine de Roffignac remains in charge of the operational management.
The new chairman is an optician who has been a member of La Guilde since 1992. He has five stores in Normandy that carry the Krys, Vision Plus and Vision Originale banners.
