Gert van de Weerdhof has been promoted to be the new chief executive of Pearle Europe, with effect from May 1. The 43-year-old Dutchman worked at Proctor & Gamble and at Pepsico before joining Pearle in 2004, recently acting as one of its vice presidents.

The Dutch Van der Vis, who is 41 years old, ran the Apollo Optik chain in Germany for several years until 2003, when he became CEO of its parent company, Pearle Europe, which manages 2,600 optical retail stores in 24 countries.
