Nidek has announced the release of the new pupillary distance meter PM-700. The device features an ergonomic design, to fit comfortably in the operator's hands, as well as a vertical marker with 0.25 mm increments that is said to allow easier alignment with the corneal reflection point. The scale can be corresponded to 0.5 mm increments as in the previous model PM-600. The measurement value of the pupil distance is presented in 0.5 or 0.1 mm increments. Following a review of the inner structure, battery life is now around three times longer than the previous model and rechargeable batteries can be used.
