No less than 107 athletes wearing Oakley sunglasses won medals at the recent London Olympic Games. More than 700 athletes from 205 countries competed in the Games with Oakley glasses, including the recent innovative RadarLock series. Many of them went to the Oakley Safehouse established on the southern bank of the Thames River to try out new combinations of sunglasses, to rest, to chat and to use the internet. Oakley is crediting the good performance of Team GB, as well as Team Sky in the Tour de France, with a jump in sales of its London 2012 collection at Vision Express, the big optical retail chain in the U.K. During the first week of the Olympics, sales of the line grew by 78 percent at the chain's stores; Oakley sunglasses rose by 55 percent and ophthalmic lenses were up by 24 percent.
