Obe, the German manufacturer of hinges, presented a new innovation at the Silmo show in Paris, for which it was nominated for a Silmo d'Or. The new so-called Rivet & Bend hinges can bend in all directions. Compared with standard rivet hinges, the new hinges have an integrated inclination in their construction, and can therefore be bent by the manufacturer or the optician. The new hinges are made in China by Obe's own production company, Globe, which was acquired in 2016. From 2004 to 2016, Globe was a joint venture. All product development is done in Germany. Obe has applied for a patent for its new Rivet & Bend hinges. Sales are expected to increase by 5 percent in 2018, driven by growth in China, Switzerland and Italy.
