Officials of Carl Zeiss Vision report on a gradual expansion of the company's unique high-end Relaxed Vision retail concept, launched in Germany in 2005. Using advanced tools such Zeiss' digital centration system, the Relaxed Vision Terminal, and others, it allows opticians to propose individually optimized ophthalmic correction solutions. Twenty-one opticians in Germany have implemented this so-called «Zeiss experience,» which involves major investments, and others in Italy are starting to express strong interest, with six opticians using the system there. The return on the investment is very high in some cases, Zeiss officials say, but it is hard to quantify.
