Oliver Fischbach, 41, has been appointed general manager of Hoya Lens Deutschland, taking the place left vacant after the departure of Jens Uwe Diercks one year ago. Fischbach has been mostly involved in the retail sector, starting with various management positions in the Karstadt department store chain. For two years he ran Krane-Optik, a German optical retail chain acquired at the end of 2006 by Apollo-Optik, where he acted recently as sales manager. Owned by Hal Trust, Apollo is the second-largest optical retail chain in Germany and a major client of Hoya. There is also a new marketing manager for the German subsidiary, Silke Rössel, who has taken the place briefly occupied by Ulrike Hagelschuer.
