OneSight, the global foundation created and sponsored by Luxottica, is teaming up with everydayhero to launch the “Ready Set See” challenge, a global fitness and fundraising challenge. Supporters from all over the world can participate in the challenge by running, biking, walking or swimming to raise funds for the opening of six new vision centers. These centers will be located in the U.S., China, India, East Timor, Rwanda and Zambia. These centers are to open to provide more than 1.23 million disadvantaged people with access to glasses and vision care. The participants in the challenge will have a chance to travel virtually across those six countries, and their performance will be tracked in real time. The Ready Set See challenge is supported by Walman as the presenting sponsor, along with Aetna, Combined Insurance, LCA Vision and Transitions Optical as silver sponsors. Those who wish to participate in the challenge must sign up on the challenge's home page, readysetsee.org, through which they can also invite friends to join in the fundraising effort. Once registered, participants can connect their personal fitness tracking device - including a FitBit, MapMyFitness or Strava - to track their distance or log their activity. Details of the participants' performance will be shared on social media. The challenge runs from Sept. 1 until World Sight Day on Oct. 12.
