Only a few days after the takeover of the French Hans Anders stores, Acuitis announced last month that it had acquired the business of Direct Optic. Initially launched in France as a pure player in 2008, Direct Optic has developed into an omni-channel, low-cost optical retail operation with the opening of 10 brick-and-mortar shops in the country since 2011. In an interview with the French website Acuité, Jonathan Abittan, chief executive of Acuitis, indicated that the 59 Hans Anders shops will switch to the Direct Optic banner. Emmanuel Gréau and Karim Khouider, founders of Direct Optic, will remain in charge and will also be responsible for the digital development of Acuitis.
