Opal has signed a licensing deal for adult frames with Bérénice, a French brand of women's apparel. The eyewear firm, which specializes in children's frames, will thus gain a position at the entry level of the luxury segment, and a first line of made-in-France products. The resulting collection, for women, will make its debut at Silmo 2019, on Sept. 27-30. Founded in 1995 and based in the French city of Lyon, Opal has two house brands, Lapo and Henko, and a license for Lulu Castagnette, an eyewear brand for women with small faces. It has also been acquiring Disney licenses since 2010. The company has about 130 points of sale in 70 countries. Bérénice runs about 63 stores.
