Optical Discount's 42 stores in France made at turnover of €16 million in 2006, up by 32.4 percent from 2005. The franchisor's turnover rose by 44.7 percent, but on a same-store basis its sales were up by 4.2 percent. The group is aiming for a turnover of €18 million in 2007 and plans to reach the 50-store mark by opening eight more retail outlets by the end of the year. It is focusing on opening large-scale stores, following its two openings in Auray in Brittany and Beauvais, north of Paris. They are both 300 square meters wide and located in shopping malls. The group also intends to apply its Art Deco-inspired concept to all its stores by the end of 2007.
