Orange 21 is bringing Jim Pritts on board to be a consultant for its Spy Optic brand. He will help push research and development for lens technologies and also work with Spy Optic on product design and development, sourcing, quality, technology communication, intellectual property, and marketing and training. Pritts has more than 30 years of experience in the optical industry. Since 1997 he has owned his own consultancy; prior to that, he was vice president for R&D at Revo. He also worked with Sunglass Hut International, Sola International and Bausch + Lomb/Ray-Ban. In addition, Devon Howard is joining Spy Optic as marketing director. Howard is a significant figure in the surfing world, having been an editor at Longboard magazine, a contributor to The Surfer's Journal, and star and/or producer of numerous surf films. He comes from Patagonia, where he managed its flagship surf shop in Cardiff by the Sea, California; prior to that he was a marketing consultant for Converse. He will report to Michael Marckx, president of Spy Optic.
