OWP Brillen has acquired Op Couture Brillen, including its well-known Cazal brand of eyewear, from the family of its founder, Harald Böttcher. The two German companies are both based in Passau. Run by Werner Paletschek, OWP stands for Optische Werke Passau. It covers the medium segment of the market with its three brands: OWP, Mexx and Metropolitan. Positioned in the premium segment of the market, Cazal will continue to be run by Beate Obersteiner and Alois Haimerl as an independent subsidiary of OWP. It will continue to make its spectacles in Germany.
