PPG Industries has promoted John Liebenguth to general manager of optical materials, with immediate effect. In his new role, he succeeds Christine Camsuzou, who has been promoted to the new position of general manager of consumer electronics, which is a growing part of PPG's larger industrial-coatings business. Liebenguth will be responsible for optical monomers, coatings, sunlenses and industrial lines and will report to the senior vice president of optical and specialty materials, Richard C. Elias. He will also continue to serve, for the time being, as director of sales and marketing. Liebenguth began his career with PPG in 1979 and worked in the company's industrial-coatings and packaging-coatings businesses before joining the optical products business in 2005. Camsuzou joined PPG's optical business in 2004 as general manager of optical monomers. Her role was expanded twice - once in 2006 when she became general manager of optical materials, with additional responsibility for photochromic dyes, optical coatings and other types of products, and a second time two years later with the addition of optical materials for sunwear and industrial uses.
