Acuitis, the French chain of optical and hearing-aids’ shops, has released a small range of sunglasses in partnership with two companies based in the French Brittany region: the apparel brand Armor Lux and Fil & Fab, a start-up specializing in the recycling of fishing nets. After being collected and sorted, the nets are ground into polyamide plastic granules that can be directly used for the production of sunglasses, skipping the polluting varnishing operation. One tonne of abandoned fishing nets is said to have been used for the production of the Acuitis X Armor Lux sunglasses already. The four models, all named after local islands, are sold at the price of €90 each in both partners’ websites and retail stores.
