Lancel Paris, the brand of leather goods, and Grosfilley France have signed a six-year license for the design, production and distribution of sunglasses and eyeglasses under the Lancel Paris brand. The first collection will consist of a total of 32 models for women, including 20 optical and 12 sunglasses’ frames, and will be distributed in France from September this year and internationally from January 2022. The future collections will also be available at Lancel Paris stores and on the brand’s e-commerce website. In the 1970s and 1980s, the Lancel brand had already been licensed for eyewear to Solo, an Oyonnax-based company in which Grosfilley was a shareholder, but it has been absent from the optical market since then.
Founded in 1950, Grosfilley France boasts a total of about 3,000 accounts in France and is exporting to more than 70 countries. Its portfolio already includes the Azzaro Paris, Chantal Thomass, Vicomte A, Zilli and Charriol licenses. Lancel Paris was taken over from Richemont by the Italian group Piquadro in 2018. Sales of the leather goods’ brand had increased by 14 percent in the group’s last full financial year, just before the Covid-19 outbreak.
