Mirage, the Italian OEM company specializing in polyamide eyewear, has announced the signature of a licensing agreement for the production and distribution of sunglasses under the North Sails brand. Founded by Lowell North in 1957, a U.S. sailor and Olympic gold medalist, North Sails is one of the leading sailmakers and also develops a range of clothing and accessories through its North Sails Apparel subsidiary. Distribution of North Sails-branded sunglasses has already started in Italy and will be progressively implemented in Europe and the rest of the world. Mirage said that all models of the new collection were made in Italy using eco-sustainable and recycled materials such as fishing nets and would come with high-performance lenses. Mirage’s lenses partners include Essilor Sun Solution, Barberini and Carl Zeiss Vision Sunlens.
