Safilo has announced the signature of a new license agreement with Carolina Herrera for the design, manufacture and distribution of women’s eyeglasses and sunglasses under the New York-based brand’s name. The 5-year agreement will be effective as of Jan. 1, 2022. Commenting on the announcement, Angelo Trocchia, CEO of Safilo Group, said that the new license would reinforce the women’s proposition in the group’s portfolio and represent a crucial step in counterbalancing the recent brand exits. Carolina Herrera is a women luxury fashion brand of the Spanish group Puig, which also includes Dries Van Noten, Jean Paul Gauthier, Nina Ricci and Paco Rabanne. The brand’s eyewear was previously licensed to the De Rigo group.
