The British designer Tom Davies has designed glasses for most of the cast of the forthcoming Disney movie Cruella, with Emma Stone and Emma Thompson in the lead roles. The movie is set in 1970s London, during the punk movement. Davies collaborated with the costume designer, Jenny Beavan, and produced 120 frames at his factory, about half an hour from Shepperton Studios, where the movie was filmed. To keep things authentic, Davies set up an old-fashioned acetate press, which has since become part of the factory’s standard equipment. Davies will be promoting the collaboration at a few stores worldwide. The film will be making a double debut, in theatres and on Disney+, on May 28. The Tom Davies brand, established in London in 2002, specializes in handmade frames and offers “full bespoke service.” It operates five stores in London and otherwise sells through a retail network worldwide.
