Puma has renewed its 4-year-old global license with Charmant Group for sunglasses and optical eyewear. It is not sure whether the negotiations were aided by the fact that Charmant is no longer licensing the Lacoste brand, which is now part of Marchon's portfolio. According to a press report, Charmant's sales grew by 4 percent in the past year to the equivalent of about €200 million ? 40 percent of that in Asia, 30 percent in Europe and 30 percent in the U.S. Japan was the biggest market for the company, followed by France and the U.S. The company makes 9 million pieces annually and employs 450 people in Japan and 3,000 in China.
