Randazzo, an Italian optical retail chain with 188 outlets trading under the Optissimo and Corner Optique banners, generated sales of €103.4 million in 2013, down by 3 percent. The result is highly positive, considering the fact the Italian eyewear market fell by an estimated 7 percent and that the company divested all the former activities that were not related to eyewear. The group's market share in Italy has thus risen from 3.5 to 3.7 percent. At the same time, the company's financial indebtedness fell by 14 percent, dropping from €29 million to €25.6 million in the past year. Net assets increased by 4.9 percent as compared to 2011 to over €44 million in 2013. Randazzo opened 11 new stores in Italy in 2012, including eight corners in hypermarkets. The workforce remained stable at around 1,000 people. New eco-stores will be opened this year and the group will continue to convert some of its existing outlets into eco stores.
