After France and Italy, Hoya Vision Care is now launching its MiYoSmart lens for children in Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands and the UK. Developed through a partnership with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the lens is said to slow down myopia progression in children by 60 percent on average, through the proprietary Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments technology. MiYoSmart, which won a Silmo d’Or award last year, had been initially launched in Asia and the group is now progressively rolling it out internationally. According to company officials, Hoya has equipped more than 500,000 children with the new lens.
