The results are in for the 12th edition of a ranking called “France’s Favorite Retail Brands” (Enseignes Préférées des Français), based on a survey by e-marketing.fr and EYParthenon of 8,000 French consumers over 18 years of age. Leroy Merlin, a chain of big-box hardware stores, reigns supreme overall. In the optical sector, however, the top five are: Optic 2000, Krys, Optical Center, Afflelou and Générale d’Optique. Last year’s top optical chain was Krys. The ranking uses three subdivided criteria: general considerations (quality of selection, quality/price ratio, trust and customer service), in-store experience (service, sales staff, location, buying experience, help in purchasing decisions and omni-channel profile) and digital (online-purchase experience, website help in purchasing decisions, omni-channel profile). Within this scheme, different optical chains have come out on top in different categories, as follows: women (Krys), men (Optic 2000), ages 18 to 34 (Optic 2000), ages 35 to 54 (Optical Center), ages 55 and up (Optic 2000), customers earning less than €2,000 per month (Générale Optique), customers earning €2,000 to €4,000 per month (Krys), customers earning €4,000 and up per month (Optic 2000), Paris region (Optic 2000) and rest of France (Krys).
