Rip Curl, the Australian surf clothing brand, is launching a new eyewear collection with some 100 new optical and solar styles, replacing about half of the brand's current models. While the brand's strength remains with optical products, sunglasses now make up 40 percent of the entire collection. The high-end sunglasses were developed in partnership with BNL Eurolens, a subsidiary of the Essilor group specializing in the production of premium polycarbonate sunglass lenses. Rip Curl expects to sell up to 100,000 pairs of glasses through 1,000 European retail venues next year. Of those retailers, 350 are located in France.
