Safilo and Marchon won awards for the optical eyewear and sunglass categories, respectively, at the Design Excellence Awards organized by the Accessories Council of the U.S. The ceremony was held on Sept. 5 during a luncheon at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Safilo won with Jimmy Choo's Jc228 style and Marchon with Chloé's Curtis (style # Ce162s). Additionally, EssilorLuxottica's Ray-Ban Original Wayfarer Classic was honored with the Hall of Fame award, granted to accessories that have stood the test of time and are iconic and instantly recognizable. In the optical category, the finalists were ClearVision Optical for Amazing glasses from Aspire; Covry Eyewear for the Chara Peony model; Flexon for their Black Collection; Safilo's Jimmy Choo style Jc228; and Tura Inc.'s Mini 741001 BLS. In sunwear, the finalists were Marcolin's Atelier Swarovski Eyewear for its SK0240-P model; Marchon's Chloé Curtis; Safilo's Fendi line for style FF 0399/S; Safilo's Givenchy for the GV Shower; and Randolph Engineering's 23K White Gold Aviator Sunglasses with AGX Polarized Skytect Glass Lenses.
