Safilo Group has made several appointments to boost its sales of sports eyewear and sports-inspired glasses, particularly under the Smith Optics brand, which has been under-represented outside the U.S. Joel Sandoz, former country manager for Switzerland, is channel leader for sports and outdoor lifestyle. The group has also appointed Philipp Greilberger, a former commercial director for Austria, to the new position of commercial director for the sports segment in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. His job will be to boost sales of its Smith brand in the region, particularly in the German-speaking countries. In the U.S., Kevin Hyland, who spend more than 25 years at Nike, has been made North American sports channel chief for the group's sports and outdoor lifestyle brands, including Smith and Suncloud.
